CLAT 2019: CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) 2019 is a national level entrance exam. It is organized once in a year in the month of May. It is organized for giving admission in L.L.M and Integrated L.L.B courses offered by eighteen National Law Universities of India. For the year 2019, examination is being conducted by the Chankya National Law University, Patna. Last year (2016), it was organized by the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. Registration for CLAT 2019 has been started from the 1st week of January 2019. In this article we provide all information related to CLAT 2019: Application form, Exam Dates, Eligibility, Syllabus and Registration etc. 

New Changes in CLAT

  • The upper age limit for general category candidates is 20 years (as on or before 1stof July 2019) for whereas upper age limit for reserved categories candidates is 22 years (as on or before 1st July 2019).
  • MNLU (Maharashtra National Law University), Nagpur has been recently added in the list of 18 National Law University.
  • The counselling/admission procedure is being conducted in only four rounds.

CLAT 2019 Registration/Application Form

  • CLAT 2019 registration are available through online mode only.
  • Application Form for CLAT 2019 is available from the 1st January 2019.
  • Before filling the application form, all candidates need to get ready with all the documents like scanned photograph, signature, ST/SC/SAP certificate (if applicable/appropriate) or domicile certificate (if applicable).
  • Last date for submission of application form is last week of March 2019.
  • Note that there is No need to send application via offline mode.

Application Fee:

Candidates those belong to the OBC/UR/SAP (Specially Abled People) category, have to submit Rs. 4,000/- as an application fee. Whereas SC/ST candidates have to pay Rs. 3,500/- for the same. Application fee can be paid either via Online or e-Challan. Additional bank charges may apply for the above transactions. The application fee is non-refundable in any case.

Eligibility Criteria

For UG Programmes:

  • Candidate has to qualify their 12thoralike examination with minimum 45% of marks(in case of Unreserved/SAP/OBC categories) and 40% of marks (in case of ST/SC category).
  • Appearing candidates of Class 12th or alike examination in March/April 2019 are also eligible to apply for this exam.
  • At the time of admission, the candidates would have to provide an evidence of their passing qualifying examination.
  • The upper age limit for general category candidates is 20 years (as on or before 1stof July 2019) for whereas upper age limit for reserved categories candidates is 22 years (as on or before 1st July 2019).

For PG Programmes:

  • Candidates those who belong to Unreserved/OBC/SAP categories must passed the LL.B or alike degree with a minimum 55% of marks and 50% of marks(for SC/ST category).
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply for this exam.
  • Candidates would have to provide the evidence of their qualifying examination at the time of admission.
  • There is no upper age limit for PG courses.

Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern for CLAT 2019 is different for Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes.

For UG Programmes:

  • Mode of Exam: This entrance exam is being held via online mode.
  • Examination Based: It will be a CBT (computer based test).
  • Medium: English language.
  • Marks: The question paper contain a weightage of 200 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: For each and every right answer, candidates will be rewarded with 1 mark.
  • Negative Marking: on each and every wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted as a negative marking scheme.
  • Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes).

  • Marking Scheme: For each and every right answer, candidates will be rewarded with 1 mark.

CLAT 2019 Syllabus

Syllabus for CLAT 2019 will be prepared by the organizing university. The syllabus includes the topic of Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude, and General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics and Constitutional Law, etc.

How to Prepare for CLAT

Due to the increase in number of candidates, level of competition of CLAT exam has also increased. Know some best preparation tips and strategies to secure good marks in CLAT:

  • Make your own strategy plan, prepare your time-table and start preparation according to that.
  • As question paper for UG course will contain General Knowledge questions therefore, students are advised to make notes of national & international current affairs.
  • Keep yourself abreast with the latest happenings.
  • Go through the previous year’s question papers to know exam pattern and type of questions asked.
  • Prepare all the sections keeping in mind the time constraints.
  • Practicing the mock test is one of the best way through which you come to know about the difficulty level of question paper. It also helps you to know your lacking areas.
  • CLAT has the system of negative marking so don’t make the guesses, choose only the right one.
  • Most importantly, take care of your health and remain stress free.

CLAT Question Papers

Candidate’s can download the previous years question papers of CLAT through the CLAT website by making the payment of Rs. 4000/-. The payment can be done through online mode only. The hard copy of the questions papers will not be provided by CLAT office.

CLAT 2019 Admit Card

Candidates will be able to download the admit card via online mode only. Admit card will be downloadable from 4th week of April 2019. The managing university will not need to send the admit card via by post or e-mail on the day of examination, it is compulsory for the candidates to bring their identity proof (Voter ID/ Passport/Aadhar Card/Driving license) along with the admit card.

CLAT 2019 Result

The results will be declared in May 2019 (tentative). Candidates can check their result on www.clat.ac.in by accessing through their personal LOGIN ACCOUNT.

Complete merit list according to the marks secured by the candidate will be published on the CLAT website. also, the state-specific and all India merit lists will be prepared for various categories like Open/SC/ST/OBC/Women and PWD etc. candidates.

CLAT 2019 Answer Key

  • CLAT 2019 Answer Key contains the correct answers to all the questions that have been asked in the examination.
  • With the help of the answer key, students can estimate that how much marks and score they will secure in the examination.
  • The CLAT 2019 Answer key will get published after few days of the commencement of the entrance by the conducting authority.
  • The official answer key will be published by the authority via online mode on to the official portal.

CLAT 2019 Counselling

Admission to Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes in CLAT participating universities 2019 under CLAT 2019 will be done through centralized counselling. Seats will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of the ‘merit-cum-preference’. Which will be prepared by CLAT score and order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT application form. After the result declaration, the CLAT 2019 Counselling procedure will be commenced from 1st week of June 2019. The counselling process will be conducted in 4 rounds. Candidates need to pay Rs. 50,000/- as counselling fee to show their sincerity/assurance in taking admission in any of the participating National Law University.
