GATE Registration 2018

The brief details of GATE Registration are given below. Applicants need to follow the below given steps in order to register for GATE 2018:

  • All the applicants have to apply through online mode only.
  • GATE registration 2018 will begin or starts from the 1st of September 2017.
  • The last date for registration is 5th  October 2017.
  • Authority/consultant will offer a period of approx. 1 month for the application process.
  • Applicants have to fill their application form through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System).
  • Applicants have to register as a “New User”.
  • After fruitful/successful registration, they will get the access to GATE Online Application Processing System.
  • Afterward, applicants need to log in using their GOAPS Enrollment ID and Password.
  • While filling the application form, applicants need to upload their scanned photograph, signature, thumb impression, category certificate or degree certificate.
  • International applicants are also eligible to apply for the exam.
  • GATE 2018 will be organized or we can say conducted in Ethiopia, Singapore, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and United Arab Emirates.
  • Application Procedure for international applicants is same as Indians applicants.
  • International applicants must take over a valid passport to apply.

Note: International applicants should have passed their Bachelor’s degree in Technology/ Engineering or PG (M.Sc.) degree in any relevant /related science subject.AT the time of filling the application form, applicants need to upload their proof of qualification eligibility. Applicants who have passed their qualifying degree in 2017 or before are needed to submit their degree provisional certificate/ certificate while the other applicants have to upload the certificate from the head of the institution/ Principal.

GATE 2018 Application Form Correction

Minor changes will be allowed in the GATE 2018 application form. The modification will be allowed only after the application form submission. In case, if any mistake has done by the applicant in his/her application form then, he/she has a need to send an email subjecting “Correction in data along with (Enrollment Number)” along with the documented proof.

Corrections/ Modifications will be allowed in the following fields mention below:

  • Name of Applicant
  • Date of Birth
  • Name of Parents/Guardian
  • Status from General category to OBC and OBC to General
  • Year of Qualifying Degree
  • In option, i.e. Have you graduated in the above degree?

GATE 2018 Exam Pattern:

Detailed exam pattern is given below:

  • Course: GATE is organized for M.Tech. /Ph.D. programme in IISc, IITs, and several other institutions.
  • Number of Papers: GATE 2018 is held for total 23 papers. Applicants are allowed to appear in only one of the 23 papers.
  • Mode of Examination: The exam will be conducted through online mode only (CBT).
  • Exam Duration: exam paper duration is 3 hours.
  • Number of Questions: there is Total of 65 questions which contain a weightage of 100 marks.
  • Type of Questions: MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) & NAT (Numerical Answer Type Questions) will appear in GATE examination. As we all know MCQ type question contains 4 choices whereas in NAT there are no options provided. Applicants are required to enter the real number in NAT Questions with the help of virtual/ computer-generated keypad.
  • Common Section in All Papers: GA (General Aptitude) section is common in all papers of GATE. It will contain total 10 questions of maximum 15 marks (5 questions of 1 mark and 5 questions of 2 marks).
  • Marking Scheme: NAT and MCQ questions carry 1 or 2 marks in all papers.
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 marks will be deducted as a negative marking for the questions carrying 1 mark. Likewise, 2/3 marks will be deducted for questions carrying 2 marks, and No negative marking for NAT questions.

Exam Pattern For Paper GG:Exam Pattern For All Papers Except GG, XE, XL:Exam Pattern For Paper XL:Exam Pattern For Paper XE:
· Part A – 25 questions of 1 mark each. This part is common for all candidates.

· Part B – 30 questions of 2 marks each. This part has two sections, section-1 is of Geology and section-2 is of Geophysics.

· 10 questions from GA.

· 25 questions of 1 mark each.

· 30 questions of 2 marks each.

· 10 questions from GA.

· Section P – Chemistry (compulsory section) – It contains total 15 questions (5 questions of 1 marks and 10 questions of 2 marks).

· Any two of XL sections Q to U – Total 20 questions (10 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks).

· 10 questions from GA.

· Section A – Engineering Mathematics (Compulsory Section) – Total 11 questions will be asked. 7 questions of 1 mark each and 4 questions of 2 marks each. It is common to all candidates.

· Any two of XE sections from B to H – 22 questions. 9 questions carrying 1 mark and 13 questions carrying 2 marks.

· 10 questions from GA.

GATE 2019

GATE 2018 Admit Card

Applicants download their Admit card from the GOAPS official website. No offline mode is available. The successfully registered applicants will be able to download the GATE 2018 admit card tentatively in the 1st week of January 2018. With the hard copy (printed copy) of admit card, applicants also need to bring 1 ID proof to the examination hall.

*ID proof may be any of these: Employee identification card, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar UID, Valid College ID, or Driving License. From international applicants, only valid Government issued ID/ Passport/College ID/ Employee ID will be accepted as ID proof.

GATE 2018 Answer key

The authority will release GATE Answer Key 2018 on to the official portal after the commencement of the examination by IIT. The GATE answer key 2018 is the key which contains all the correct answer of question paper and with the help of it applicants can estimate their marks in GATE examination. Answer key will be available in PDF format on the official website. Answer key has to be downloaded by the applicant by entering their ID and Password in the official website of exam conducting authority. Unsatisfied applicant can challenge the GATE answer key of any question after giving their justification(s)/ reason by paying Rs. 500 (for every question) through the online payment site available in the GOAPS within the stipulated time period.

GATE 2018 Counselling

No common counselling will be organized by IITS for providing admission to PG courses. Applicants have to apply individually for IITs when the admission official notification will be released. NITs arranges the CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Arch./ M.Tech. / M.Plan. Admissions). It is the common counselling organized by NITs every year. Counselling is totally based on GATE 2018 scores.

Important Points
  • Gate Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) is the main authority through which applicants can access the GATE 2018 application form.
  • Applicants those who are in the final semester of B.Tech are eligible to apply for the exam but he/she need to upload the declaration from their University Principal along with the signature and seal of the college.
  • Applicants can appear the exam any number of times.
  • Applicants can check their application status by logging to the GOAPS official website.
  • There is no need to send the hard copy (printout) of application form.
  • Applicants those who complete B.Tech in 2017 but having a backlog can apply for the examination but those applicants need to clear their backlog before August 2018 to be eligible for admission.
  • Applicants can fill only one application form, with one e-mail id.
  • Applicants can only correct their mistakes in the fields such as Name of Applicant, Date of Birth, Name of parent/Guardian, Year of qualifying degree, Caste.
